This Privacy Policy describes how the WA Audio Transcribe browser extension (“Extension”) collects, uses, stores, and protects user information. By using the Extension, you agree to the practices described in this Policy.

1. Information Collected

1.1 WhatsApp Web Content

The Extension accesses WhatsApp Web voice messages only when the user explicitly chooses to use the transcription feature.

The Extension may temporarily process:

Voice message audio
Message-related audio content
Selected transcription provider settings

The Extension does not access unrelated browser tabs or websites.

1.2 API Keys

The Extension allows users to configure their own API Keys for supported AI transcription providers, including:

Groq
OpenAI
Deepgram

API Keys are stored locally using the browser extension storage system and are not transmitted to any server controlled by the Extension developer.

1.3 Local Storage

The Extension may locally store:

Selected transcription provider
User preferences
Cached transcription results
Extension configuration settings

This data is stored locally in the user’s browser environment.

2. Use of Information

The collected information is used exclusively for:

Transcribing WhatsApp Web voice messages into text
Displaying transcription results inside WhatsApp Web
Saving extension preferences and settings

The Extension does not use collected data for advertising, analytics profiling, or user tracking.

3. Audio Processing

When the user requests a transcription:

Audio may be securely transmitted directly to the AI provider selected by the user
Processing occurs through the selected provider’s API
The Extension developer does not store audio files or transcription history on external servers

Users are responsible for reviewing the privacy policies of the selected AI providers.

4. Information Sharing

The Extension does not sell, rent, or share user data with third parties.

Audio content is transmitted only to the transcription provider explicitly configured by the user for the sole purpose of generating transcription results.

5. Storage and Security

The Extension uses browser-provided storage mechanisms and follows standard Chrome Extension security practices.

No remote code is executed by the Extension.

No external database controlled by the developer is used to store user conversations or audio files.

6. Third-Party Services

The Extension integrates with third-party AI transcription services, including:

Groq
OpenAI
Deepgram

Use of these services is subject to each provider’s own Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

7. User Rights

Users may:

Remove stored settings at any time
Delete the Extension from their browser
Revoke or replace API Keys whenever desired

Uninstalling the Extension removes locally stored extension data from the browser environment.

8. Changes to this Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated periodically.

The “Last Updated” date will reflect the most recent version.

Users are encouraged to review this Policy regularly.
